Biography

Liacia Baaheth, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, is the daughter of Dr. M.A. and Alicia Baaheth and the eighth of nine children. She attended Southern University Laboratory High School where she participated in extra-curricular activities, to include the S.U. Lab Marching and Concert Bands (flutist), the Majorette Squad, the Girls Track and Field Team, the Library Club, and others. After graduating, she attended Southern University A & M College, Baton Rouge Campus majoring in Chemistry. In 2014, Lacy Baaheth received an Honorary Doctorates Degree from Virginia University at Lynchburg in Humane Letters. Although formally trained within the Scientific Arena, in December 1997, Lacy became a licensed Real Estate Agent and began her diligent journey towards becoming a highly sought-after Real Estate Professional.

She joined the RE/MAX de la Louizianne Team as a Salesperson where she later became Vice President and Sponsoring Broker. Lacy remained with RE/MAX for over 10 years. While there, she obtained the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), the Graduate REALTOR’s® Institute Designations and her Real Estate BROKER’s License. She also made quite a mark by receiving statewide and regional salespersons awards from RE/MAX Corporate which included the President’s Club Award (for 2 years), the Executive Club Awards (for 2 years), the 100% Club (for 2 years) and the Platinum Club Award. In 2007, she received the RE/MAX statewide award of “Top 10 in Louisiana” - #7 in the State of Louisiana in Earned Commissions. She also received what she considers to be the greatest of them all, “The Cooperative Spirit Award,” for two years. “I really value this award because it is one that is received as a result of being selected by your peers.”

For the last ten years, Lacy has and is currently contracted to complete projects as a Right-of-Way, Acquisition and Relocation Agent for the City of Baton Rouge, the Parish of East Baton Rouge and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. She acquired this position by being sought after by the Office of the Mayor-President, Mayor Melvin “Kip” Holden, to complete a Relocation Project that had been the result of a 20-year community lawsuit. She successfully completed the project, attaining Letters of Thanks and

Appreciation from the Relocates that were read aloud at the City Council Meeting, aidding the City to regain Governmental Trust.
In 2007, Lacy married Master Gunnery Sergeant Keith A. Sylvain, now retired (2009) after serving a 30-year, Active Duty Career in the United States Marine Corp. Keith still works with the Marine Corps as an Information Technology Specialist, within the United States Government, Civil Service. Together they have four children, Sherod, Lakeya, Mohammad II, and Brionna and six grandchildren, Sherod Jr., Cameron, Michael, Mikayla, Caleb, and Chloe.
In 2008, Lacy’s success and passion for the industry, prompted her to open the doors to Lacy Baaheth, LLC d/b/a Lacy Baaheth & Associates, a Real Estate Sales and Property Management Company. There she acquired other Designations such as the Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), NID Housing Counseling, “Breaking New Grounds” Certificate, Small and Emerging Business Certificate-Hudson Initiative and the USA Cares Military Housing Certificate.
Lacy’s philosophy is “Owning Real Estate is the American Dream for many, a way of life for some and a retirement supplement for others. Every transaction is unique and deserves a holistic view and be a personal experience.”
Lacy’s Professional Affiliations include being an Original Member of the Professional Business Network (Administrator/Treasurer), the Louisiana Triage Board for Louisiana Hospitals, the Women’s Council of Realtists, the Greater Baton Rouge

Association of REALTORS®, and the National Association of REALTORS®, to name a few. In 2009, she became President of the Baton Rouge Association of Real Estate Brokers®, a Chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers® of which she has been working diligently to raise awareness of its existence. In 2012, Lacy was awarded the Prestigious National Title of “Realtist of the Year” by the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, one of the largest African-American Trade Organizations in the United States today.
On April 22nd, 2016, Lacy Baaheth was appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards to the Louisiana Real Estate Commission, District 6. Since then, Lacy has attended the ARELLO Conference with Commissioners from all over the United States, the Virgin Islands, Canada and Africa. She has also been Appointed by the Commission’s Chairperson to work on the Strategic Planning Committee for the LA Real Estate Commission, where she will be instrumental in assisting with the direction of the Real Estate Industry for her State.
Dedicated and focused in community involvement, Lacy is always happy to be a part of the improvement of others. Her contributions include being a sponsor and chair of the Southern University, College of Business “Gala on the Bluff,” which is designed to give scholarships and fund education and abroad studies that promote Global Entrepreneurship Programs for Business Students. She was selected to travel to Africa, in December 2009 with the S.U. College of Business and the State Deaprtment, to study and participate in the enhancement and exchange of small business development with Entrepreneurs and students from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. “That trip was a life-changing experience and journey like none other. Business opportunities are great and the people are appreciative, warm and welcoming, to say the least”.

Other organizations and programs which Lacy provides her assistance has included the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk, the Salvation Army, Beta Delta Tau, a sorority for teenage youth founded and directed by Senobia Smith, Donations of Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets , the Heritage Home, Career Day for Elementary, Middle and High Schools, Loan Modification Aid for Mortgagees, Southern University Investor’s Entrepreneurial Training Program and Summer Business Involvement and Investment Training, with the 1st Students to complete in Summer of 2010; Piper Glasper, a 2016 a Graduate of LSU School of Business and, Asia Baaheth, currently attending University of Monroe, majoring in Pharmacy.
